Hey guys, it's time for a fan boy rant!


If you know me in any way, you know that I love the original Bubblegum Crisis...probably to the point of being one of those uncomfortable, awkward nerds you want to distance yourself from in fear that he may talk to you or smell of some kind of nasty acne medication.

Now call me old, but it's such a shame that the original 8 episodes are the best example we have of this franchise considering it was set in the same universe as the AD Police series (and I mean the original, people). ADP was a dark, dangerous, gritty, anything but campy realm. Can you imagine how much cooler BGC would have been if they had run with that idea instead of idolising 80s kitsch and making it the Priss-show?

And don't even get me started on the tripe that is Crash, BGC 2040 , or this dreaded movie idea....

Oh well...


Linna's my favourite character; In BGC or ANY anime now and then. Some people know I have a thing for the under appreciated characters. I think it stems from the unspoken character in these creations. There's a potential that's never tapped.

Heh...I was looking at the pic and was like "Hey...that's Linna! ORIGINAL Linna!" She was my favorite from the original too. Crash was okay, and I liked 2040 (save for them making Linna lame...and Sylia bipolar...and, well, the Boomers weren't as cool LOL)

I'd love to see more from the first continuity as well; I was happy when Adam Warren did the "Grand Mal" comic all those years ago. Seeing this pic and recently picking up and watching the first show again makes me kinda want to pick up those recent transforming figures...

It was like out of all the OAVS maybe about 4 of those episodes were really good, but then dropped in quality a bit.

However I never looked at any of that stuff after Pioneer kept revamping a series instead of progressing the storyline. Tenchi Muyo syndrome anyone?

I really loved Dangioh and Iczer (the first Iczer...that was hardcore and dirty...too bad Nagisa whined to much). To me looks like Gen13 borrowed quite a bit from that series (Dangaioh).
