I'll be frank. I stopped really pushing my agenda for D/A becoming a serious art community ever again. Places, people, communities, all just evolve to something new , for better or worse. That said, I really don't know what I make of the big stink everyone is making of the new front page system. Yes, it's going to push some idiotic deviations to the front and people will exploit that, yet, who didn't on the old system? From what I've seen, those making the most noise about the front page are those who have the most to lose. Those who seem to wear their page views as a badge of honour. Really, the very thing that makes this site so superficial. I'm not saying all of the popular artists here are like that, but the loudest opponents are up there. And the way I figure it, these people already have a substantial fanbase and will only continue to have them grow as their fans tell other people about them.

No change to the front page, popular section, or anything is going to stop me from enjoying the artists I watch and admire. And ANYONE who leaves this site because they cannot get back on the front page or hates the favourite system is completely missing the point of what it means to do art


Personally, I've found new artists here via people I already watch. I dig through their favs or check out someone new when they mention them in their journals.



Nobody wants to lose the audience they do have around here, but if their only means of keeping an audience is the main D/A page, maybe they need a stronger backing rather than the need to continuously cater to new faces. *shrug*
